The nuclear power industry is growing both at home and abroad. To meet the increasing demand for nuclear power professionals, the Nuclear Systems Major was launched in 2011 in the School of Mechanical Engineering at PNU. To cultivate talents who will lead the future nuclear power industry, the graduate school opened in 2012. Bringing out the best in the SME, the graduate program is concentrating on nuclear reactor engineering and radiation engineering, contributing to the supply of safe and clean energy and the peaceful use of nuclear power.

- Nuclear reactor : Design and manufacturing of nuclear plant components, design and analysis of nuclear plants, operation and control of nuclear plants, reactor theory, reactor materials, water chemistry of nuclear reactors
- Radiation engineering : Radiation instrumentation and shielding, health physics, radiation tomography, nondestructive testing
- Nuclear wastes management and nuclear decommission : Nuclear chemistry, nuclear wastes management, decontamination and decommission of nuclear reactors
